Acceleration!

Please listen to Education Specialist Gary Petersen discuss some initial thoughts on Acceleration in the video above.

The Reading

This is the origin website for Teachers College Reading and Writing Project at Teachers College. Here you'll find many resources and videos to acclimate yourself to K-8 units of study, assessments and up-to-date information around institutes, days and workshops. A great place to start.

The Aurora Institute

The Aurora Institute is a great place to begin exploring the world of personalized learning.

Heinemann

This site provides access to units of study, online resources, blogs and podcasts on current topics in education. You’ll find videos from Kate Roberts (A Novel Approach) and digital resources by Jennifer Seravallo. Remember to register your resources. The Heinemann site is a great place to discover webinars with renowned authors.

Newsela

By far one of our most important resources, NEWSELA offers a discount through EASTCONN and the other RESCS for small and large districts. If you can't access the full website, the six daily articles are worth the visit each day. Grab them at each LEXILE level and you'll have a quick resource for all of your readers. LEXILES will adjust sentence length and vocabulary syllables, but not ideas and structures.

TweenTribune

An absolute MUST. The Smithsonian's TweenTribune is similar to NEWSELA, but it's free (though not as in-depth with content).

Digital Promise

Digital Promise was created with a mission to accelerate innovation in education to improve opportunities to learn. You’ll find opportunities to network with other innovative educators as well as resources on Instructional Coaching, Competency-Based Learning, and more.

Making Math Moments Matter

Making Math Moments Matter is a great resource that also includes podcasts and webinars. A great place to begin your exploration.

Biting Into the Core

Biting Into The Core provides an overview of learning progressions for each of the domains in mathematics.

The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL)

The CASEL website is a hub of research, practice and policy for social-emotional learning with resources available.
