QMC Graduation Requirements
Preparing Our Students For Success in the 21st Century
Requirements for graduation are consistent with Connecticut mandates and include the acquisition of at least 27 credits upon completion of grade 12 at QMC. Each course offered at QMC incorporates objectives designed to enhance multicultural awareness and cultural competence.
The recommended curriculum includes:
- Mathematics: no fewer than 4 credits
- Sciences: no fewer than 3 credits
- Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Elective: 2 credits
- English: no fewer than 4 credits
- Social Studies and Fine Arts: no fewer than 5 credits (1 must be in Fine Arts)
- Physical Education: 1 credit
- Health: 1 credit
- Career, Vocational and Life Skills: no fewer than 2 credits
- World Language: no fewer than 2 credits
- Open Elective: no fewer than 1 credit
- Community Service Learning: 1 credit
- Senior Capstone (Mastery-based diploma requirement): 1 credit
Students must also achieve a rating of “Proficient” on at least one formal, summative assessment in each Academic Performance Expectations area:
- Effective writing
- Active reading
- Effective communication
- Problem-solving
- Independent project development (senior Capstone experience)
Lastly, upon graduation, all students must exhibit:
- Effective collaboration
- Personal responsibility
- Social and civic competences
